A network for new and aspiring library professionals
Following yesterday’s event, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made the effort to join us. We hope you went away brimming with new ideas about supporting Information Literacy!
I felt a bit sorry for the little prezi that didn’t get shown because of the technical glitches at the start (If anyone has trouble with projectors in the future, give Amy a shout – she’s now fully clued up!) So it’s here for anyone who would like a look. Since it wasn’t intended as a standalone – just to reiterate what was said in the intro so that the prezi makes more sense:
The network really isn’t just the four of us. It’s great to see so many enthusiastic people joining us to take part. I think we are all conscious that you can’t expect to learn everything you will need to know about being a librarian from any one course, and since we have all chosen a career in which you can’t ever expect to stop learning, the central aims of the network are:
– To strengthen the professional awareness of members
– To facilitate CPD beyond the lecture theatre
We do this by sharing our experiences of library courses/networking events/traineeships/1st pps – all through our blog and social media profiles, and through our events where we have asked established professionals to share their professional insights and expertise.
Again, we really want to encourage other people to blog for us. So, if you would like to do a member interview, post about your own study or work or even an opinion piece, please get in touch.
A quick overview of the evaluation sheets last night told us that people really enjoyed the chance to network with others and the practical Information Literacy ideas to use in your own roles. In light of some drawbacks about the venue, there was some very excited discussion about possible venues for our next event in the Spring….watch this space!
More detailed posts about the event and feedback about the feedback is to follow! Thanks again for sharing the event with us, we hope to see you at the next one.
